California Clinic for IEBWA Cont Ed Hours

HIPPOH Foundation: Can You Handle the Truth?

Have you ever had that nagging voice in your gut that your horse’s feet weren’t right, but you were afraid to say anything to your farrier? Have you been rubbed raw by your saddle and chastised by your trainer for your miserable position, but felt that your saddle was really the problem? Do you feel like your horse might be in pain, but everyone around you just tells you to ignore it or chalk it up to bad behavior? Are you a frustrated horse owner lost in the sea of information (and misinformation) who wants to improve the quality of life for your horse and do what is best for them but don’t know where to start?

The HIPPOH Foundation, Horse Industry Professionals Protecting Our Horses, was formed to help you if YOU CAN HANDLE THE TRUTH!

HIPPOH is an organization of world class equine professionals working together to educate and provide solutions based on science, research, and the culmination of their life-long experiences. These are united professionals passionate about giving the horse a voice and protection from the dark side of the horse industry. To shine a bright light on practices which are detrimental to the health, safety and well-being of our equine compatriots and to you, the rider.

The solution is in your hands and your desire to educate yourself on EVERY aspect of your horse’s care. To surround yourself with a “dream team” of professionals whose motto is “Horse’s First, Ribbons Second” and pledge to protect your horse from harm and injustice. Unite yourself with professionals who realize the importance of integrating their practices to give optimum care to your horse.

The HIPPOH Foundation is hosting a Masterclass series of symposiums where education is key, and the combined efforts of an Integrative Veterinarian, Master Classical Trainer, Certified Journeyman Farrier, Certified Master Saddler, and human Neurosurgeon, provide the incredible united front dedicated to teaching for the welfare of the horse and rider. These individuals share the same history of watching their own horses suffer, and dealing with the frustration at the lack of resources and the incredible conflict and ignorance in the way of finding answers. Now their united mission is to provide the solutions so that the riders have a resource and the horses have a voice.

The only thing more powerful than a man with an objective is a group of people sharing the same mission. We are hoping you will join us on this mission to help improve your horse’s life and to help stop practices in the horse industry that are destroying our horse’s health and well being.

Attend the HIPPOH Foundation Symposium “Can You Handle the Truth?” – an extraordinary 2-day event in Rancho Santa Fe, December 4-5, 2010. For more information or to register online, please visit http://www.art2ride.com/ or http://www.inspiritusequine.com/, or phone 858-342-6691. Don’t miss this incredible opportunity. Whether you ride English or Western, for show or for pleasure, it’s time to GET EDUCATED!

Great day at WEG. Number of visitors was up, weather was great, more people found us!! And, we gave 45-50 demonstration massages!! People are very happy to hear standards are being applied in our industry. We've talked to several veterinarians who are impressed with the education provided by our schools. New Look at WEG

This is our new look at WEG. The weather is nice enough today for us to open one side of the booth. The WEG committee, at our request, has moved both the mobility assistance shuttle drop off and the WEG trolley drop off just to the side of us. So, we turned our vertical sign to face both drop offs. The rack with cards faces straight out, so catches traffic from the left. (We are giving cards to people getting off the trolley or shuttle). Just minutes after the change we had people walking THROUGH the booth! Previously they had been hesitant to enter but since they see an escape route, they walk right in!! We will also be taking turns visiting booths here in the Village and in the Trade Show area to hand out cards. The people we talk to are all impressed with the level of education required for an EBW and many comment on the importance of standardization of the education. Great news of all of us!!

WEG booth

Here is our booth. Today we actually switched the vertical poster and the podium, as most traffic comes from the right so we wanted to draw them in with the vertical poster.
Our day: Up between 4:30 and 5:00. Leave apartment at 6:30. Arrive WEG at 7:00. Walk 30-35 minutes from parking lot to booth. Prepare and then open at 8:00. Work until 7:00 PM. Close booth and walk 30-35 minutes to car. Arrive apartment about 8:00. Prepare and eat dinner. Do blog. Go to bed exhausted.

Take a bow

Our booth is located just across from the outdoor arena so we have been fortunate today to watch several free events.

WEG competition

Competition here at WEG is tough. Others better come prepared!!

On the way to our booth we ran into Secretariat. Thought we'd include his picture since his movie comes out Oct. 8 - during WEG!!
One of our tables. Demonstrates we work with small animals as well as large. There will be candy "falling out of" one of the feed scoops and some equipment (a red light, and 2 electrical stimulators) "falling out of" the other. The other table is all bones - one front leg, one hind leg, the pelvis, sacrum, tail and entire spine.

Sneak Peek at the IEBWA WEG Booth!

Months of coordination and preparation from a great team have gone into
the World Equestrain Games booth
and we thought we'd give you a sneak peek at the final rendering of our design.

Our newly remodeled website, blog, Facebook page and booth have been integrated into one wonderfully cohesive look, uniting all of the IEBWA divisions as never before.

2010 marked the first year that we held an online AGM (Annual General Meeting), and perparations have begun, in offering online conferences and courses, open to students, body worker professionals and the general public.

Online meetings took place in the preparation of this event, with all of the division Chairs and the Divison heads, from around the world. For some it meant the wee early hours, some mid day, and some late evening. It was not only fun, figuring out the challenging new online conferencing, but an amazing experience, chatting with everyone from every corner of the earth all at once. Very apropos for this International event.

The online venues will be the IEBWA's contribution to the global "green" movement, as well as
being considerate of the current economic times and it's challenging effects.

Setup for the WEG begins in just four days and a big thank you goes out to Ruth Mitchell Golladay of Virginia, and Lyndsey Deutsch and Brittany Deutsch coming down from Canada to load up the truck and making that long drive to Lexington, Kentucky!

The three of them are doing the initial set up of the booth and we
wish them luck on their 19 day adventure! (Yes! It's that long!)

Thank you also to Deborah Adams of Possible Impossibilities Studios (US Division Chair)
for creating our new look.

A special thank you to Karin Yates, who has put together our visuals for the HDTV.

The Marketing Material Committee, Nan Meek, Miriah Stuart and Debranne Pattillo.

WEG Housing Resourses: Katja Auer.

Volunteers: Glynis Nairn, Natalie Smith, Sarah Linton, Rene Noriega, Meg Garbutt.

and of course the Division Heads: Nicole Rombach, and Debranne Pattillo!

Ruth and the gang will be sending us updates throughout the games to please check back often.
Just a reminder, we're located not too far from the main entrance,
at the South/West curve of the racetrack, booth # 17.

Ruth will be offering a select number of sample MFR sessions ... whoohoo!... So see if you
can get in on the fun by stopping by.

Hope you can make it!

Acupressure Point Charts for Horses

Book and DVD Reviews
Acupressure Point Charts for Horses
by Diana Thompson

Many of you many know author Diana Thompson from courses she has presented internationally and,
through her own company, Hands on Horse Care. Diana has been spotlighted in th
Equinology newsletter previously and she is a favorite teacher of Equinology.

The time and attention to detail shines throughout this new release. Diana's voice comes through the 230 pages presented in a flip chart format.
Included are 127 equine acupoints and 14 energy flows. The acupoint locations and energy channel pathways are presented on 330 high quality black and white horse photographs. These are further hightlighted on 100 illustrations of the muscles and corresponding bony landmarks. Step by step charts are included along with acupressure application techniques as well as theory.

You can be assured that this information presented is correct and accepted by other professionals specializing in acupressure. We have reviewed many acupressure books previously and this work is not stands out as one of the best, but is also unique in it's presentation.

This will be one of the books students are required to have for Equinology's acupressure courses.

Read what Kerry Ridgeway, DVM, A leading Veterinary Acupuncturist and Instructor wrote:
"This book is a much needed resource for horse owners, equine body workers and veterinarians. It is
extremely well researched and edited and the photos and illustrations are superb. The descriptive text is precise and written in language that is understandable to both layman and professional."
You can purchase this by visting Diana's online store directly:

The IEBWA is going to Lexington Kentucky for the WEG!

It's official!
After making the decision nearly two years ago, the IEBWA
is heading to the World Equestrian Games in September!
We've presented at the Equine Affiare, and smaller venues Internationally but the IEBWA has been looking for a larger venue to showcase our Association and it was decided that the WEG
would be the perfect location.
The 2010 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games will be held
Sept 25th - Oct 10th 2010
at the Kentucky Horse Park, in Lexington Kentucky, USA.
The IEBWA will be located in the
Equine Village in space # 17
Now that the fees have been paid and our booth reserved, we're now beginning to organize
the staffing of the booth, which will include both setup (two days before the opening) and tear down (the day after).
The WEG Committe:
Staffing & Booth Coordinator is:
Ruth Mitchell- Golladay (USA)
WEG Coordinator/Liason:
Deborah Adams (USA)
Those IEBWA members that are interested in helping to staff our booth
please contact Ruth Mitchell-Golladay.
Please note: Due to the high security at the WEG
all interested booth volunteers MUST
register ahead of time!
The deadline is in a few weeks and the WEG must have our staff names on file, no exceptions.
We have also learned that all WEG event tickets must be purchased in advance as
no tickets will be sold at the gate!
So, order early!
This is an exciting time for the IEBWA as this event will highlight
all of it's International Divisions, tell the world who we are,
and what we bring to the equine world.
More info to come.
See you there!
